Jenna Wykes, graduate student in counseling and student development, wants to work in academic services for college student athletes. And motivating student athletes to work hard in their academics can be challenging. But she already knows about that. As a former student-athlete and a wife to a current football player, Wykes does not accept any excuses.
“A lot of times, they’ll say, ‘Well, you know it’s hard practicing and doing this and that and then doing academics,’ and I can say, ‘Well, I’ve been there, and if I can do it you can do it,’” she said.
